He is considered a three-star recruit by ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to UNC, where Belichick, 72, is entering his first season, Devin has received offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, UCLA and Pittsburgh, Fitzgerald\u2019s alma mater, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The elder Fitzgerald, 41, played wide receiver at Pittsburgh for two seasons (2002-03) before he was taken third overall by the Cardinals in the 2004 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>The former Walter Payton Man of the Year winner spent his entire 17-year career in Arizona, where he was elected to 11 Pro Bowls and named First-team All-Pro in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzgerald, who played his final season in 2020, finished his prolific career with 1,432 receptions for 17,492 yards and 121 touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Much like the Fitzgeralds are focused on Devin\u2019s future, Belichick is locked in on his at UNC.<\/p>\n<p>The legendary NFL coach joined the Tar Heels in December after parting ways with the Patriots last January following 24 seasons and six Super Bowl wins.<\/p>\n<p>Practices began earlier this week, with Belichick likening his program to that of NFL rookie minicamps. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s kind of similar to what a rookie minicamp would be and time with the rookies. Granted, those kids are a little bit older, but they\u2019re coming in from all different programs and different situations,\u201d he told reporters Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it\u2019s starting to put everything together: here\u2019s how we do things, here\u2019s what our expectations are, this is what you need to do to be successful. They\u2019ve embraced that, they\u2019ve tried to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Belichick signed a five-year deal with UNC in January.
