We all just knew we had to win that quarter to win the game,\u201d Watford said. \u201cMan, I\u2019m so glad we ain\u2019t have to go to overtime. Honestly, I ain\u2019t know if I had it in me to play five more minutes, I ain\u2019t gonna lie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fernandez said of Watford: \u201cHe helps you win. And he does that because he\u2019s able to score, but also able to handle and playmake and play four positions, and post-up and make a 3. So all those things are super valuable at his size and position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cam Thomas was his usual high-scoring self in his first five-on-five since getting hurt, and the gifted young guard seems on the brink of a return.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m all right,\u201d Thomas told The Post before Saturday\u2019s win. \u201cI\u2019m just taking it by their plan, and we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It marked the 22nd straight game Thomas had missed with a left hamstring strain. He hasn\u2019t played since a Jan. 2 victory in Milwaukee, and it\u2019s unclear if he\u2019ll be ready to return Monday in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust day-by-day now and see, seeing how I feel,\u201d Thomas said. \u201cI\u2019m just seeing how my body reacts, you know? Once I feel good, you know you\u2019ll see me out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thursday marked his first five-on-five since the injury, significant since it\u2019s essentially the final hurdle to be cleared in his comeback.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did great. He scored a lot. I made sure that I told the coaches to pass him the ball and let him shoot,\u201d Fernandez said. \u201cHe was great. He did a good job, he was in a good place. It was good to see him play. \u2026 Obviously, he has to play again and again and feel like he can sustain a certain amount of load. Then we\u2019ll decide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be soon.
