I do like the guy,\u201d Collinsworth told Adams. \u201cHe\u2019s been one of the most phenomenal players we\u2019ve seen in the league for a long, long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comment came as part of an answer after Adams mentioned how some people have said Collinsworth goes over the top with his praise of Mahomes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He did acknowledge that Mahomes did deserve some of the blame for the Chiefs\u2019 lopsided loss to the Eagles, 40-22.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome. I mean, clearly some,\u201d Collinsworth said. \u201cHe was missing some throws as well that were the classic don\u2019t throw back across your body, which we\u2019ve seen him do a thousand times. That\u2019s what he did for the pick-six. He did not have a good first half, he just didn\u2019t. He not only had to be good, he had to be great and probably couldn\u2019t have even been great enough for him to have won this game.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mahomes finished Sunday\u2019s loss with 21 completions on 32 pass attempts for 257 yards and three touchdown passes, while also throwing two interceptions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Chiefs QB was sacked six times for a loss of 31 yards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Collinsworth, for his part, is well aware of the discourse around his perceived Mahomerism, even going as far as to poke fun at himself during previous broadcasts on NBC.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During a December 2023 broadcast, partner Mike Tirico tried to ask him about something other than Mahomes, which Collinsworth made a joke out of.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019ll be people excited I\u2019m not gonna mention Patrick Mahomes.
