I don\u2019t know,\u201d said Ryan, who also interviewed last week for the Jets\u2019 vacancy. \u201cI\u2019m just kidding, Vrabes. I\u2019m just kidding, buddy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\tRex Ryan\u2019s reaction to New England hiring Mike Vrabel: pic.twitter.com\/gjXJ6C4cJj\u2014 Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 12, 2025 <\/p>\n<p>The other analysts laughed at Ryan\u2019s open campaigning to be rehired by the Jets, who he coached to consecutive AFC Championship games early in a tenure that produced a 46-50 record (2009-14).<\/p>\n<p>Host Mike Greenberg \u2014 a big-time Jets fan himself \u2014 jumped in to clarify that Ryan meant his Jets beating the Patriots and not that Ryan was challenging Vrabel to a fight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy team, yeah,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cNot me personally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan is picking up where he left off by trash-talking the Patriots, even though they are no longer the big, bad, Super Bowl frontrunners nowadays. <\/p>\n<p>Vrabel is taking over a team coming off of back-to-back last-place finishes in the AFC East.<\/p>\n<p>Way back when, Ryan entered his first season with the Jets by saying, \u201cI never came here to kiss Bill Belichick\u2019s rings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How did he back it up?
