Belichick\u2019s successor in January 2024 after the franchise parted ways with its six-time Super Bowl-winning coach.<\/p>\n<p>Upon building a new staff, Mayo \u201chad to lean on\u201d Patriots executive VP of player personnel Eliot Wolf \u201cand others in the front office\u201d due to the coach\u2019s \u201clack of connections,\u201d The Athletic reported.<\/p>\n<p>With a relatively green regime, \u201cMayo was left without an experienced sounding board during the more difficult days of the season,\u201d the publication detailed.<\/p>\n<p>Other alleged moves by Mayo piqued curiosity during his lone season at the helm.<\/p>\n<p>On a flight home after \u201ca lopsided loss\u201d to the Cardinals in Week 15, Mayo moved from his seat towards the front of the aircraft to the rear, \u201cwhere some players had gathered to play cards, choosing to hang out there while his assistants watched film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patriots owner Robert Kraft put Mayo\u2019s failed season on himself, stating Monday, \u201cI put him in an untenable situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New England\u2019s search for a new coach is well underway.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, the organization announced interviews
