It was a listless showing, as the Giants went down meekly 20-13 at Lincoln Financial Field. Of course third-string quarterback Tanner McKey outplayed Drew Lock. The Giants trailed 17-3 before lock and Malik Nabers hooked up for a 45-yard touchdown with 10:32 remaining.<\/p>\n
The loss puts the Giants at 3-14 \u2014 they never before lost 14 games in a season \u2014 and ushers in an offseason that could be filled with intrigue.<\/p>\n
At least this loss will prove beneficial to the Giants in late April, when the NFL draft comes around. The Giants came into the day with the No. 4 overall pick and, with a victory, they could have dropped all the way down to No. 9. <\/p>\n
That worst-case scenario did not transpire. With New England\u2019s win over the Bills, the updated draft order stands at the Titans with No. 1 overall, followed by the Browns at No. 2, Giants at No. 3 and the Patriots at No. 4.<\/p>\n
It is called Black Monday for a reason, as the day after an NFL season ends, firings come fast and furious.<\/p>\n
For the Giants, the expectation is not-so-fast with whatever goes down with Daboll and Schoen. A decision on their futures might not be made public on Monday.<\/p>\n
It is believed Daboll and Schoen will meet separately with co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch and those meetings might not come until late Monday or Tuesday morning. Players will clean out their lockers Monday morning. Daboll will conduct exit meetings before the players make their exits.<\/p>\n

The more likely scenario, if both are not retained, is that Schoen stays and Daboll is dismissed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mara and Tisch have had months to take in all the losing in what was supposed to be a celebration of the 100th year of the franchise. They will hear what Schoen and Daboll have to say, as far as what went wrong \u2014 that could take a long time \u2014 and, more importantly, there will be an opportunity to present solutions and plans moving forward to turn the franchise around. After these discussions, a decision will be announced about Schoen and Daboll\u2019s future with the Giants.<\/p>\n
The Giants are 18-32-1 in three years with Schoen assembling the roster and Daboll coaching the players. They were immediate hits, going 9-7-1 and winning the first playoff game for the franchise since the 2011 season. There was regression to 6-11 in 2023 and a complete meltdown this season, which included a franchise-record 10-game losing streak.<\/p>\n
