His passing is devastating to the Massapequa community, and we offer our deepest condolences to Connor\u2019s family and friends,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<p>School officials said grief counseling will be available to students this week.<\/p>\n<p>The teen collapsed during the charity match in honor of a Syosset graduate, Sabrina Navarett, who died in a car crash last year.<\/p>\n<p>The game was held by a foundation in Navarett\u2019s name to raise scholarship money and offer support to grieving parents whose children have passed.<\/p>\n<p>Navaretta\u2019s parents, John and Mara, released a statement on Kasin\u2019s tragic death and offered their condolences to the hockey star\u2019s family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no words to convey our heartbreak that we feel as last night was supposed to be a fun night. The community came together to celebrate Sabrina\u2019s life and our family\u2019s commitment to help with scholarship, dog rescue and assisting grieving parents,\u201d John and Mara Navaretta said, according to CBS News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like the Kasin family to know our commitment to you. Connor was there to play for Sabrina and our family is here for you. Please take the time to grieve and be kind to yourself as the waves of grief can knock you over. John and I are here for you when you are ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kasin\u2019s travel hockey team, the Sharks Elite Youth Hockey, also posted on Facebook\u00a0Sunday confirming his death.<\/p>\n<p>His coach, Jeff Tempone, called his player\u2019s death \u201cdevastating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was a coach\u2019s dream. You coach him and he loved the game. It\u2019s missing someone. It\u2019s missing someone very special,\u201d Tempone told CBS News. \u201cProbably in the best shape on the team, as far as being physical, and was just a great kid, highly coachable kid, always encouraging his teammates on the bench.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was devastating.
