But if you\u2019re going to make a political statement then be bold and brash enough to stand behind it,\u201d Howard wrote. \u201cDon\u2019t go quiet and don\u2019t plead innocence like Christian Pulisic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Howard also added that he thinks doing the Trump dance \u201cis stupid.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy? Because, whether it\u2019s the president of the United States or my neighbor down the street, I would never back someone who I believe is racist. I wouldn\u2019t glorify that. I wouldn\u2019t do it for anything,\u201d the former American soccer keeper wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Howard\u2019s clear issue was that Pulisic said that he wasn\u2019t supporting Trump with the celebration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pulisic had said after the game that he \u201cthought it was funny\u201d and that \u201cit was just a dance that everyone\u2019s doing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou cannot have it both ways. You\u2019re on one side of this or the other,\u201d Howard also wrote in the column. \u201cIf you are bold enough to publicly make a statement, I don\u2019t have a problem with that.
