It&#8217;s not going to be nice all the time.&#8221; pic.twitter.com\/ZZOujnXmis\u2014 Scott Agness (@ScottAgness) June 7, 2024<\/p>\n<p>When the Fever faced the Sky on Saturday, Carter body-checked Clark to the court before an inbound pass, and that led to plenty of criticism after Carter declined to answer questions about what unfolded in the immediate aftermath postgame and then later said she didn\u2019t have any regrets about what transpired \u2014 with a social media post saying she\u2019d \u201crather you hate me\u201d in between.<\/p>\n<p>The foul was upgraded to a flagrant 1 by the WNBA the following day, though the referees didn\u2019t look at the call in the moment Saturday, which head coach Christie Sides said needed to happen.<\/p>\n<p>But that all led to opinions about the physicality that has greeted Clark since she became the No. 1 overall pick, the reaction by her teammates and the \u201cnot appropriate\u201d \u2014 in the words of Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon \u2014 hard foul by Carter in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s just not where my focus is,\u201d Clark told reporters, according to ESPN. \u201cThat\u2019s not what I think about on a day-to-day basis. I think about my team. I think about ways I can get better. It\u2019s just basketball at the end of the day. There\u2019s no grudges, there\u2019s nothing like that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a sport, it\u2019s competitive. It\u2019s not going to be nice all the time; that\u2019s not what basketball is.
