He\u2019s working through finding some good timing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hitting coach James Rowson agreed that was Rizzo\u2019s biggest issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can see when he\u2019s early or late, which he\u2019s been, and when that adds up, his other numbers are not in line from what they normally are,\u201d Rowson said. \u201cI see him getting closer in his at-bats, in his work and BP. When it starts to flow, we\u2019ll see every other number start to normalize.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Rowson is confident it will happen soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI absolutely believe he\u2019s close,\u2019\u2019 Rowson said. \u201cThen he\u2019ll be able to attack. We\u2019re just trying to find it. We have to make sure we get there the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Until then, though, Rizzo is a rare hole in the Yankees lineup.<\/p>\n<p>The lefty-swinging Rizzo hit sixth in the lineup Tuesday against right-hander Bailey Ober, with the Twins scheduled to start righties all three games.<\/p>\n<p>Rizzo entered Tuesday with a .731 OPS against right-handers compared to just .471 versus lefties.<\/p>\n<p>DJ LeMahieu started at third again and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. <\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s 4-for-20 with no extra-base hits in his first six games since returning from a fracture in his right foot and Boone said he\u2019s been pleased with how LeMahieu has responded physically.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe looks good,\u2019\u2019 Boone said. \u201cHe\u2019s had good at-bats so far, is moving well and has bounced back well physically.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Effross advanced to facing hitters in his rehab from 2022 Tommy John surgery that was slowed by back surgery in December. <\/p>\n<p>He is expected back later this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Asked to compare Juan Soto\u2019s confidence and presence to another player, Boone replied with \u201cBarry Bonds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Juan is unique in his own right,\u2019\u2019 the manager said. \u201cThere\u2019s a theatrical level to it. A battle, fight element to it.
