I resent that and I\u2019ll leave it at that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McNutt then fired back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know we got to go to break. Welcome to the world of being a woman, Stephen A., and how you have to dance about your word choice and you have to please everybody and anybody as you navigate your being,\u201d McNutt said. \u201cWe are talking about the world\u2019s greatest athletes\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow about being a black man?\u201d Smith interjected.<\/p>\n<p>Shannon Sharpe attempted to get in a word before being shouted over in what became a common theme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many layers in this conversation around the way that it\u2019s being discussed\u2026,\u201d McNutt said.<\/p>\n<p>Sharpe had another attempt to get in his two cents but McNutt blocked him again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, no, no, I know y\u2019all are going to say you know, and Stephen A. \u2026 you just shared that you talked about the WNBA on your program too. You guys may not have said everybody, but the prevailing sentiment for folks that are just joining the WNBA and following women\u2019s sports, is unfair to the women of this league, to your point, who have laid the groundwork for Caitlin Clark to come in and now take it the next level,\u201d McNutt said. \u201cThat\u2019s all I\u2019m saying in these conversations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChennedy Carter\u2019s behavior is not indicative of the entire league. We are still talking about competition, where you are allowed to get a little extra elbow in if you are competing and do it within the parameters of the game. The game is physical, Caitlin is helping to grow the league, these women understand that, but she cannot be babied as a rookie. That\u2019s all I\u2019m at.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The segment then got awkward when McNutt fired back with her jab about Smith using his platform to talk about the WNBA three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Smith, with a stupefied look on his face, took a whole second before responding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow,\u201d he said in an incredulous tone. \u201cWow, wow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when Qerim attempted to finally get to that commercial break as the shouting began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlright, we gotta go, you guys,\u201d Qerim said.<\/p>\n<p>Smith interjected: \u201cSo, did you say the shows\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know you\u2019re my guy\u2026\u201d McNutt replied.<\/p>\n<p>Smith interrupted: \u201cWho does more for, than us?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStephen A., I\u2019m talking to you, I\u2019m talking to you,\u201d McNutt responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t do that,\u201d McNutt followed. \u201cI\u2019m talking to you about the power that you have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith uttered an \u201cOh, my Lord\u201d while shaking his head before saying \u201cOK\u201d several times.<\/p>\n<p>The back and forth ended awkwardly with McNutt telling Smith he\u2019s \u201cher guy,\u201d and Smith just responding, \u201cI got it,\u201d several times.<\/p>\n<p>Qerim tried again to end the segment, but Smith wasn\u2019t going to let this one go.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGuys, guys, guys, I really appreciate\u2026\u201d Qerim said.<\/p>\n<p>Smith cut her off and said to McNutt: \u201cYou\u2019re my girl, but you missed a lot of episodes of \u2018First Take.\u2019 You missed a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McNutt didn\u2019t let Smith get in the final word.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStephen A., three years ago, you were not talking about the WNBA at this level, don\u2019t do that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Qerim again tried \u2014 notice a theme? \u2014 with a string of \u201cguys\u201d and then Sharpe finally got in some words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re making Stephen A.\u2019s point, Monica,\u201d Sharpe said. \u201cMonica, you\u2019re making Stephen A.\u2019s point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Qerim then mercifully ended the segment, clapping to show she meant business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey, gentlemen please,\u201d Qerim said. \u201cLet me do my job.
