Guerrero is having another solid season, but hasn\u2019t approached his MVP-caliber level of play since 2021 and Bichette is putting up the worst numbers of his career so far this year.<\/p>\n
But instead of trading them, Atkins said he\u2019s talked with both players about contract extensions. <\/p>\n
Guerrero, 25, and Bichette, 26, are due to be free agents following the 2025 season.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, we have dialogue with them, and that is something that will continue,\u201d Atkins said. \u201cWe believe in them. We believe in their futures and hope that there is a way they can play here for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The same goes for\u00a0manager John Schneider, who Atkins said is safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just don\u2019t believe in changing [just] to change, or change for the sake of trying something different,\u201d Atkins said of Schneider. \u201cWe have to be better.
