Olivia “Livvy” Dunne picked quite the night to go to the ballgame.
The famed LSU gymnast supported boyfriend Paul Skenes on Wednesday during the Pirates’ 10-6 win over the Dodgers, when he struck out Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts on a combined seven pitches in the first inning.
Dunne, 21, took to her Instagram Stories before the game and shared a photo of herself modeling a black top, black denim shorts and a black Pirates hat.
She then posted a video from PNC Park in Pittsburgh, where Skenes got the better of Betts and Ohtani to start the game, hurling a 100 mph fastball at the Dodgers’ two-way superstar in the first inning for the strikeout.
“His stuff that first at-bat was really good,” Ohtani said of last year’s first overall pick in the MLB draft. “I couldn’t put together good swings, but overall just really good stuff.”
Although Ohtani, 29, homered off Skenes in the third inning, it was the 22-year-old who prevailed Wednesday, improving to 3-0 after allowing three runs in five innings.
“I grew up watching him,” Skenes recently said of Ohtani, who is in his first season with the Dodgers after signing a monster 10-year, $700 million contract in the offseason.
“As a two-way guy, that was what I was trying to be before I got drafted. He was an inspiration in a lot of ways.”
Skenes has continued to impress after being called up to the majors in May.
Ahead of his highly anticipated debut, the former LSU pitcher revealed how Dunne had been helping him to prepare.
“It’s been great, she’s helped me in a lot of ways in terms of managing all the hype I guess, if you will, and how to manage everything that goes around being a pro athlete because she’s kinda lived it. So it’s been great,” Skenes said at the time.
He struck out seven in his May 11 debut against the Cubs, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks in four innings in the Pirates’ 10-9 win.
Dunne was in attendance for Skenes’ big night and posed for photos with the pitcher on the field afterward.
He confirmed their relationship last summer.
