For the past nine years, our annual Fintech 50 list has showcased the top private companies revolutionizing finance through technology. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the list, with submissions being accepted until November 15. The Fintech 50 research process involves a team of 10 reporters and editors who evaluate hundreds of businesses in various fintech subcategories before choosing the final 50. The list will likely be published in February 2025.

The criteria for selecting companies for the Fintech 50 list include their impact on consumers and businesses through innovation, growth in sales and customers compared to competitors, the novelty of their product and business model, and diversity within the leadership team. While venture-backed startups are typically favored for their ability to drive industry change, bootstrapped startups are also considered. Public companies and their subsidiaries are not eligible for the list.

To apply for the Fintech 50, companies must complete the application form by November 15. Companies in a range of fintech categories, including banking, insurance, investing, payments, and real estate, are eligible to apply. Blockchain and cryptocurrency companies are also considered for the list. Applicants are encouraged to provide information on their company’s growth, including revenue over the past two years, to enhance their chances of being selected for the prestigious list.

While quantitative metrics are important, the selection process also considers factors such as the availability of a live product, the company’s operations or headquarters in the U.S., and the diversity of the leadership team. The companies chosen for the Fintech 50 list are those making a significant impact in the industry through innovation and growth. The annual list has become a highly anticipated publication within the fintech community, showcasing the most promising companies in the sector.

The Fintech 50 list is a reflection of the evolving landscape of finance and technology, highlighting the companies at the forefront of financial innovation. With a focus on companies that are driving change, releasing new products, and making strategic improvements, the list provides a glimpse into the future of finance.
