Anthropos, a skills and training platform, has recently completed a successful $2.7 million funding round. The company, which has offices in the US and Switzerland, aims to help organisations map the skills of their workforce with more accuracy and detail, as well as assist employees in acquiring new skills to bridge any gaps that employers may be concerned about. Co-founded by Stefano Bellasio and Giacomo Marinangeli, Anthropos employs automation and artificial intelligence technologies to achieve its goals, using a skills taxonomy of over 60,000 specific skills and 18,000 job roles to provide employers with a more precise understanding of the skills available within their workforce.

By utilizing AI, Anthropos is able to create immersive real-life scenarios to test employees’ skills in practice. These job simulations range from developing digital marketing strategies to resolving maintenance issues, allowing employers to assess their employees’ capabilities in a safe environment. The platform also enables employers to develop customized training plans for their employees based on their individual needs and goals for future growth. Bellasio emphasizes the importance of providing employees with opportunities for learning and skill development, as modern generations prioritize growth and learning opportunities over salary and bonuses.

Anthropos began selling subscriptions to its platform earlier this year, primarily targeting the technology sector but believing that the platform is sector-agnostic. The company highlights the potential benefits of improved retention rates and employee engagement scores for employers using the platform. While facing competition from traditional enterprise solutions like Workday and SAP’s SuccessFactors, as well as other specialist providers, investors are confident in Anthropos’ ability to gain traction in the market. The recent funding round was led by Founderful, with participation from various other investors and angel investors who see the potential of using AI to democratize career development and skills enhancement.

The platform has already attracted early adopters in the technology sector and has been used for tasks such as verifying the skills of employees transitioning to new roles, identifying the right individuals for specific projects, and screening candidates at scale through real-life job simulations. With a focus on helping employers and employees better understand and develop their skills for future growth, Anthropos aims to address the challenges organizations face related to talent shortages and skills gaps. By providing a more accurate assessment of employees’ skills and creating tailored development plans, Anthropos is positioned to help organizations better navigate the evolving landscape of recruitment and retention in the years ahead.
