As the nation eagerly awaits the results of the election, voters are considering the issues at hand and deciding whether they believe that former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris will bring about the kind of change they are looking for. Economic concerns and worries about the future are major considerations as voters make their choice in this year’s election. Preliminary data from the Fox News Voter Analysis, which surveyed more than 110,000 voters nationwide, show that this year, more voters believe the country is on the wrong track compared to the previous election. Most voters want a change in how the country is run, with a significant percentage seeking complete and total upheaval.

Voters’ frustrations with the Biden administration are evident, with more than half expressing disapproval of the job he is doing. In contrast, voters have a net-positive view of Donald Trump’s time in office, with over half approving of the job he did as president. This desire for change is accompanied by split views on the role of government, with slightly more than half of voters believing that the government should be doing more to solve the country’s problems, while nearly as many think that the government is doing too many things that should be left to the private sector. The economy is the top issue facing the country, with inflation being the most important factor to many voters.

Voters have a dismal evaluation of the economy, with two-thirds rating it as fair or downright poor. Inflation appears to be taking a toll on voters’ financial well-being, with roughly three times as many feeling that they are falling behind financially compared to those who feel they are getting ahead. Food affordability was the main budgetary concern for many voters, followed by health care, housing, and gas prices. In terms of the candidates, voters had slightly more favorable views of Harris compared to Trump.

The spotlight is not shining favorably on President Biden, whose favorability rating has sharply declined from four years ago. The Fox News Voter Analysis, conducted in partnership with the Associated Press, provides a comprehensive look at voting behavior, opinions, and preferences of the American electorate. The survey was conducted in all 50 states and involved a probability sample of registered voters drawn from state voter files, self-identified registered voters from a national panel, and self-identified registered voters from opt-in online panels. The survey was conducted from October 28 to November 5, concluding at the end of voting on Election Day.

Overall, voters are seeking change in this year’s election, with economic concerns being the top priority. The Fox News Voter Analysis provides insights into the mood of voters as they head to the polls, showcasing a desire for a different approach to how the country is run. With split views on the role of government and major concerns about the economy, voters are looking for leadership that will address their needs and concerns. As the election results are awaited, it remains to be seen who will emerge as the next leader of the United States and if they will be able to address the pressing issues facing the nation.
