The couple Steven and Jodi Spolansky from the ABC series Wife Swap quietly divorced earlier this year after being separated for years. Steven, 58, filed for a contested divorce in August 2023, and the two reached an agreement in January. A New York judge formally signed off on their split a month later. The couple has been living apart, with Steven primarily in Miami and Jodi, 56, in the Seattle area. They gained notoriety as subjects in the second-ever episode of Wife Swap in 2004, where they swapped lives with the Bradleys from New Jersey.

During the Wife Swap episode, Jodi clashed with the Bradley family’s hard-working nature due to her high-maintenance lifestyle. Meanwhile, Lynn Bradley, a bus driver, went to live with the Spolansky family in New York, which included Steven, their three kids, four nannies, maid, cook, and chauffeur. The memorable episode showed Lynn telling Steven that she was getting rid of the nannies, to which Steven humorously replied, “Are they taking the children with them?” At the time, Steven and Jodi shared three kids, sons Griffin, Gage, and daughter Peyton, who have since grown up, and they have added two more sons, Lawson and Chase to their family.

After their Wife Swap episode aired, the Spolanskys made several TV talk show appearances before fading away from the spotlight. Lawson, now 18 and a TikTok influencer with over 220,000 followers, expressed in a video posted on January 17, 2024, that “Wife Swap ruined my family’s life.” He mentioned that he wants to move on from that chapter and focus on new horizons. Wife Swap aired on ABC from 2004 to 2013 and was revived by Paramount for two seasons in 2019. The franchise also featured celebrity editions from 2012 to 2015.

Despite their initial popularity from the show, the Spolanskys have dealt with the aftermath of their Wife Swap participation. The couple quietly divorced this year after being separated for a while, with Steven living in Miami and Jodi in the Seattle area. Their children have grown up, with Griffin now 27, Gage now 26, Peyton now 22, Lawson now 18, and Chase now 17. Jodi’s high-maintenance lifestyle clashed with the Bradleys’ working-class values during the Wife Swap episode, providing memorable moments for viewers.

Lawson, the youngest of the Spolansky children who was born after their Wife Swap episode aired, shared his feelings about the experience in a TikTok video. He expressed his desire to move on from the past and focus on the future, stating that he wants to let go of the negativity associated with Wife Swap. The Spolanskys were one of the early couples to participate in Wife Swap, which aired on ABC for several years before being revived. The show provided them with a platform for public attention but also brought challenges to their family dynamic, as Lawson indicated in his video.
