The Cybertruck, Tesla’s electric vehicle, has gained attention for its supposed bulletproof exterior. In a viral video shared by adult film star Dante Colle, he is seen shooting at the $100K Cybertruck with a handgun. Initially, it appeared as though the bullet penetrated the vehicle, causing a sizable hole in the back. However, upon further inspection, it was revealed that the bullet did not actually go through the truck, but rather became lodged inside.

After the first failed attempt at testing the Cybertruck’s bulletproof claim, Dante Colle took a second shot, this time on the side of the truck. Again, it appeared as though the bullet ricocheted off the vehicle, leaving a dent and a scrape but not penetrating through. Colle and his friends were surprised and relieved by the result, proving that the Cybertruck was indeed bulletproof to some extent.

Other online personalities have also put the Cybertruck to the test, including YouTuber Zack Nelson, who shot multiple firearms at the vehicle in a video uploaded to his channel JerryRigEverything. While the truck withstood shots from smaller caliber guns, such as a 9mm and .22-caliber rifle, higher caliber rounds from an AR-15 and .50-caliber gun did inflict damage.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long boasted about the bulletproof nature of the Cybertruck, despite a failed demonstration during the initial reveal of the vehicle in 2019 when the supposedly bulletproof glass cracked when hit with a metal ball. However, a redemption test video released by Tesla showcased the Cybertruck’s durability as the team fired various calibers of bullets at the 1.8mm thick stainless super alloy exterior, with none of the bullets penetrating the vehicle.

In the redemption test, Cybertruck lead engineer Wes Morrill demonstrated the truck’s resilience by shooting it with different firearms including a Tommy Gun, a .45 caliber round, a 9mm Glock, an automatic MP5-SD, and 00 buckshot from an M4 Shotgun. Although the rounds left dents on the surface of the truck and slightly cracked the glass, none of them managed to reach the interior or fully penetrate the vehicle.

In light of the various attempts to test the Cybertruck’s bulletproof claim, Morrill took to social media in March to remind owners to stop abusing their vehicles for entertainment purposes. He mentioned that the Cybertruck had endured jumping, kicking, burning, beating, and being shot at, yet it remained resilient. Perhaps with the confirmation of its toughness, the Cybertruck can now be allowed to roam freely on and off-road without being put through any further extreme tests.
