DJ Cassidy is gearing up for a special performance in Las Vegas that will feature a lineup of hip-hop legends including Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Public Enemy, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Too $hort, Ja Rule, and more in a boom bap medley. The show, titled Pass The Mic Live!, will be a nostalgic tribute to some of hip-hop culture’s most esteemed acts, with Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, and Doug E. Fresh headlining alongside DJ Cassidy for six nights in Las Vegas. Other artists like Public Enemy, Akon, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat, Too $hort, and Warren G will also be making appearances during the residency.

The performances will take place at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20. The residency is presented by Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment, with show production managed by Steve Rifkind, founder of Loud and SRC Records. DJ Cassidy expressed his excitement for the show, stating that he is honored to share the stage with his musical heroes. He believes that the show will redefine the Vegas residency experience and create a historic moment that pays homage to the legendary acts that came before them.

DJ Cassidy has been a source of joy to the music scene during the pandemic with his curated live medleys that celebrate Black music genres like funk, soul, R&B, and hip-hop. These performances have brought together a variety of artists and styles, providing audiences with a sense of unity and nostalgia for the music of the past. In hip-hop culture, these types of performances are essential for maintaining the genre’s legacy and honoring the pioneers and class acts that have shaped the culture over the years.

The Pass The Mic Live! series has been featured in several television specials, including the Soul Train Awards and BET Awards, showcasing legendary artists such as Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Nile Rodgers. The series also includes hip-hop icons like Melle Mel, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Big Daddy Kane, Method Man, Redman, and Remy Ma, as well as singers Gloria Gaynor, Jody Watley, Kelly Rowland, and reggae stars like Shaggy, Super Cat, and Sean Paul. With a total of 220 artists representing 40 years of timeless music, the Pass The Mic Live! medleys have collectively received over 54 million views on YouTube, showcasing the enduring popularity of these classic tunes.
