Former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani was ordered to post a $10,000 bond as he pleaded not guilty to state charges in Arizona for his post-election efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Giuliani is just one of many attorneys allied with former President Donald Trump facing penalties and legal costs for their involvement in post-election activities. The charges stem from Giuliani evading being served for weeks before being tracked down at his 80th birthday party.

Other Trump attorneys facing consequences for their post-election efforts include John Eastman, who was recommended to be disbarred in California and penalized $10,000 for misleading the courts and making false statements about the election. Far-right attorney Sidney Powell and her co-counsel were sanctioned in Michigan for an election fraud lawsuit, and Giuliani was ordered to pay $148.2 million to Georgia election workers for defamation after spreading false claims about them.

Giuliani’s legal troubles extend beyond the defamation case, as he has already been ordered to pay over $133,000 in attorney fees for failing to turn over evidence. Additionally, Giuliani and several other attorneys were indicted in Fulton County, Georgia, for their efforts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results, with most of the defendants released on bond while others, like Giuliani, had to pay higher amounts.

Some attorneys, including Powell, Chesebro, and Ellis, have accepted plea deals in the Fulton County case, agreeing to pay fines and restitution. It remains unclear how much these attorneys will ultimately have to pay in legal fees, but fundraising efforts to cover costs have been ongoing. Giuliani, for example, has filed for bankruptcy and sought Trump’s help in paying his legal bills, with a fundraising event reportedly raising over $1 million for his defense fund.

Trump-allied lawyers face a variety of consequences beyond monetary penalties, including disbarment and potential prison time for criminal charges. The fallout from their post-election efforts continues as the legal battles unfold, with Giuliani’s bankruptcy proceedings ongoing and Eastman intending to appeal the court’s ruling on his disbarment. The payments made by these attorneys are just a fraction of the total costs Trump allies are facing for perpetuating election fraud lies.
