The Maison Wrist Aficionado store in the Setai Hotel in Miami Beach was recently targeted by thieves who managed to steal $1.8 million worth of Hermès bags within a matter of seconds. The heist was captured on video, showing two men wearing hoods and masks knocking expensive bags off display shelves and into rolling garbage cans they carried. Despite spending only 43 seconds inside the store, they were able to make off with at least 60 Birkin bags, which retail for tens of thousands of dollars. In total, they stole around $1.8 million in high-end leather goods.

The robbery took place around 2:45 a.m. on March 19, and authorities were notified about the break-in an hour later. The store’s door was found propped open with the lock punched out when police arrived on the scene. Eduardo Travieso Garcia, 45, was arrested several hours later after police tracked him down using the license plate number of the orange Hyundai Santa Fe he drove away from the store. The same vehicle was also connected to a jewelry heist in Hillsborough County on March 9, leading to Garcia being charged with masked burglary of an unoccupied structure, first degree grand theft, and unlawful use of a communications device.

Despite Garcia’s arrest, the second suspect involved in the robbery has not been apprehended. He was seen fleeing the scene in a truck carrying the stolen bags in rolling garbage cans. The Miami Beach Police Department reported that their investigation into the theft is ongoing, and no further information about the second suspect has been released as of yet. The stolen Hermès bags, particularly the Birkin design, are highly sought after luxury items that can range in price from $10,000 to $450,000.

The heist at the Maison Wrist Aficionado store highlights the brazenness of the thieves who targeted the high-end retail location. With the stolen merchandise valued at $1.8 million, the crime has gained significant attention both locally and nationally. The swift nature of the robbery, combined with the thieves’ ability to escape capture initially, raises concerns about the security measures in place at the store and the hotel where it is located. The incident also serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing sophisticated criminal activities in the community.

The arrest of Eduardo Travieso Garcia in connection with the Hermès bag heist and the car linked to another robbery underscores the importance of police work in solving complex cases of burglary and theft. Garcia now faces multiple charges related to the robbery, and law enforcement officials continue their efforts to locate the second suspect involved in the crime. The public appeal for information and cooperation from the community is crucial in aiding the police investigation and bringing all individuals responsible for the theft to justice. As the investigation unfolds, more details may emerge about the motivations and methods employed by the perpetrators of the high-value robbery in Miami Beach.
