In the season 2 finale of Fire Country, fans were left wondering if Gabriela actually married Diego, as she was seen leaving the church before exchanging vows. Max Thieriot and Stephanie Arcila, who play Bode and Gabriela, shared their thoughts on the outcome. Arcila believes that Gabriela is a person of integrity who will end up where she is meant to be, regardless of following societal norms. She is excited to see what the writers have planned for Gabriela in the upcoming season.

Reflecting on Gabriela’s journey in the past two seasons, Arcila expressed that her character’s actions were in line with her personality – someone who gives 100 percent to everything she does. Gabriela’s love life has been tumultuous, starting with a connection to Bode in season 1 and ending with her engagement to Diego in season 2. Despite her feelings for Bode, Gabriela chose to marry Diego, causing a roller-coaster of emotions as she attempted to do what was right for her family.

Both Arcila and Thieriot were unsure if Gabriela ultimately called off her wedding with Diego after kissing Bode days before the ceremony. Thieriot believed that Bode and Gabriela needed a break from each other to grow individually, as they had been through a lot in the first season. Bode’s character development in season 2 showed growth in his ability to make more thoughtful decisions, rather than reacting impulsively.

Thieriot shared that Bode’s feelings for Gabriela were still present, despite being apart from her. Hearing from Gabriela’s dad that she was happy with Diego made Bode realize that he couldn’t interfere with her happiness, even though it pained him to see her getting married. The tension between Bode and Gabriela was palpable throughout the season, hinting at a potential future between them.

As the show moves into season 3, Bode will focus on his firefighting career, while Gabriela has a lot to figure out emotionally. Arcila mentioned that Gabriela needs time to process everything that has happened and make sense of the chaos in her life. The future of Gabriela and Bode’s relationship is still uncertain, but there is a strong foundation laid out in the pilot episode that will continue to be explored throughout the series.

Fire Country has been renewed for a third season on CBS, with all episodes available for streaming on Paramount+. The unresolved romantic tension between Bode and Gabriela, along with the emotional turmoil they both face, sets the stage for an intense and compelling storyline in the upcoming season. Fans can look forward to seeing the evolution of their relationship and the challenges they will face as they navigate their feelings for each other amidst external pressures.
