Severe storms in several southern states, including Louisiana and Mississippi, have resulted in multiple deaths, including a pregnant woman and her unborn child in Louisiana. The storms caused widespread damage, including a tree falling on a mobile home in West Baton Rouge Parish, killing the woman and her unborn baby. Another death occurred near the town of Henderson, Louisiana, with authorities suspecting a tornado as the cause. In Mississippi, one person was killed in Wilkinson County during the storms. Florida and parts of south Georgia were also under the threat of severe weather, with tornadoes still a possibility.

The recent storms come after a particularly active period of severe weather in the U.S. history, with at least 267 tornadoes confirmed by the National Weather Service from April 25 to May 10. The devastating tornadoes led to lengthy searches for victims, such as in Oklahoma where one person was reported dead over the weekend. The authorities found the man’s body in a creek in Osage County after searching for a missing person since an EF4 tornado struck on May 6. The state medical examiner’s office will be responsible for identifying the deceased.

In Louisiana, a pregnant woman, identified as Kristin Browning, 31, lost her life after a tree fell on top of her home, resulting in the tragic death of her unborn baby as well. Her husband and 5-year-old daughter were injured but were expected to survive. Another death occurred near Henderson, Louisiana, with authorities suspecting a tornado as the cause. In Mississippi, one person was killed in Wilkinson County during the storms. The National Storm Prediction Center warned of severe weather threats in Florida, parts of south Georgia, Tennessee, north Georgia, and north Alabama.

The series of storms in the southern states have caused significant damage and resulted in multiple fatalities. The storms come after an active period of severe weather in the U.S. that saw over 267 confirmed tornadoes between April 25 and May 10. In Oklahoma, authorities found a man’s body in a creek in Osage County, days after a tornado with winds of up to 175 mph struck the area. The victim’s identity will be confirmed by the state medical examiner’s office. Louisiana and Mississippi were among the states hit hardest by the recent storms, with fatalities reported in both regions. The National Storm Prediction Center warned of continued severe weather threats in certain areas on Tuesday.
