Former President Donald Trump has been making false claims about his Manhattan trial, including falsely claiming that a judge’s gag order prevents him from testifying. Despite initially stating that he was not allowed to testify, he later admitted that he is allowed to do so. However, he continued to make inaccurate claims about the case, including falsely stating that he had to post bail and that the trial is preventing him from campaigning.

Trump’s claim that he had to put up bail is false, as he was released on his own recognizance after his arraignment. While he did have to post a bond in a separate case in Georgia, he was also released on his own recognizance in his federal criminal cases in Washington, DC, and Florida. Trump also claimed that New York City is a violent city due to cashless bail, a statement that is subjective and debatable given the city’s crime rates and the impact of bail reforms.

Despite the trial not being held on weekends, Trump continued to complain that it is preventing him from campaigning. However, he is free to campaign on weekends and is planning to travel to Florida for a Republican National Committee fundraising luncheon and a Formula One race. Trump’s claim that he was supposed to be in Ohio on Saturday lacks evidence, as he is scheduled to visit the state on a different day. Additionally, there is uncertainty about his internal campaign schedule for Georgia.

Trump has been holding campaign rallies in various states but has also chosen to spend his free days without court engagements at his properties in Manhattan and New Jersey. He has been accused of avoiding certain swing states and public events on days without court proceedings, opting for private meetings and recreational activities instead. Despite facing legal challenges, Trump continues to be active in campaigning and fundraising efforts for the Republican Party.
