A Canadian couple in their 30s purchased a retired school bus and transformed it into a fully functional home on wheels to live out their dream of travelling the world. The couple began the process by gutting the interior of the old school bus, removing all the old seats and fixtures to make way for their new layout. They sold, donated, or reused items to minimize waste and found unexpected treasures like toys and change hidden between the seats. Insulation, framing, plumbing, and electrical work followed, ensuring the tiny home was cozy, structurally sound, and capable of off-grid living with solar panels. The next step was the interior design phase, where they maximized space while maintaining functionality and style by crafting custom furniture, building storage solutions, and adding personal touches.
