Rapper Polo G, real name Taurus Bartlett, was arrested on gun charges in a Manhattan hotel after a maid found a loaded Glock in his room. Bartlett, known for his debut album “Die a Legend,” was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. The gun was discovered at the Dominick Hotel in SoHo, where Bartlett was staying, by a maid cleaning his room.
Police were called to the hotel where they found a loaded black Glock on a loveseat in Polo G’s room. The gun had a bullet in the chamber and nine bullets in the magazine, according to a criminal complaint. Despite the charges, Polo G’s attorney argued for no bail, stating that the rapper was dedicated to his career and had no reason to flee. However, prosecutors argued that Polo G was a flight risk due to prior run-ins with the law, including a misdemeanor conviction and arrests in Los Angeles for kidnapping, robbery, and assault.
Judge Kevin McGrath ultimately set Polo G’s bail at $25,000 cash, which was posted shortly after the court appearance. Polo G’s attorney did not comment on the outcome of the bail hearing. Born in Chicago, Polo G rose to fame with hit singles like “Finer Things” and “Pop Out” featuring rapper Lil Tjay. His debut album “Die A Legend” reached No. 6 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. He is expected to release his fourth album, “Hood Poet,” later this year after delays following his August 2023 arrest.
Polo G’s next court date is scheduled for June 4, where he has the option to appear virtually. Despite the legal troubles, Polo G has made a name for himself in the rap industry with his successful music career. With a loyal fan base and chart-topping hits, Polo G continues to attract attention and climb the music charts. However, his recent arrest on gun charges has added another layer of controversy to his career, as he navigates the legal system while still trying to focus on his music and upcoming album release.
As Polo G faces the consequences of his actions, the rap community and fans await updates on his legal situation and how it may impact his future projects. Despite the challenges, Polo G remains committed to his music and is determined to overcome this setback. Time will tell how the gun charges will impact Polo G’s career, but for now, he remains a prominent figure in the rap industry with a promising future ahead.
