The Guelph Humane Society has rebranded its 50/50 draw to support abandoned animals in Guelph and the surrounding area. The fundraiser, now called Lucky Paws lottery, began on April 1 and has already proven to be the organization’s fastest growing lottery since its launch in 2022. The current jackpot for the lottery is over $15,000, with a guaranteed minimum grand prize of $5,000 and five early bird draws worth $500 each.

All proceeds from the lottery will go back to the organization to provide primary and emergency veterinary care for animals in need, as well as supply food, medication, and shelter. Jane Dawkins, the communications and community engagement director for GHS, emphasized the importance of the fundraiser in helping animals and pet owners who may be struggling. She highlighted the positive support the organization has received from the community and beyond since the draw began, with many people purchasing tickets to support the cause.

The first early bird draw for the Lucky Paws lottery is scheduled for Friday and will continue until May 10. Additionally, in the fifth week of the draw, there will be a special $200 bonus prize from Dogtopia. Dawkins emphasized that the funds raised through the lottery play a crucial role in providing care for animals in need, helping to cover veterinary expenses, food, medication, and shelter. She emphasized the importance of community support in ensuring the success of the fundraiser and urged individuals to participate by purchasing tickets.

Dawkins highlighted the fact that about 60 percent of Canadians own pets, and with approximately 70,000 pet owners in Guelph alone, there is a significant opportunity for the community to come together in support of the cause. She encouraged all pet owners and animal lovers to consider purchasing tickets for the Lucky Paws lottery, as their support could contribute to building an even larger jackpot for the fundraiser. The grand prize draw for the lottery is set to take place on May 17, and tickets are currently available for purchase on the Guelph Humane Society’s website.

Overall, the rebranded Lucky Paws lottery by the Guelph Humane Society aims to raise funds to support abandoned animals in need. With a growing jackpot and generous prizes, the fundraiser has garnered positive support from the community and beyond. By purchasing tickets for the lottery, individuals can contribute to providing essential care for animals in Guelph and the surrounding area, including veterinary services, food, medication, and shelter. The success of the fundraiser relies on the support of pet owners, animal lovers, and the community at large, with the grand prize draw scheduled for May 17. Tickets are available for purchase on the Guelph Humane Society’s website, offering participants a chance to win while making a meaningful impact on the lives of animals in need.
