Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributorsMillie Bobby Brown has been in the spotlight for over a decade, and just like her roles, her hair has undergone some seriously epic transformations. The 21-year-old British actress recently showed off her latest style —platinum-blonde tresses. She first debuted the look on February 24 in Los Angeles. Three days later, she headed to Madrid, Spain, where she again appeared on the red carpet, this time in the same dress Gwyneth Paltrow wore to her New York City premiere of Shakespeare in Love in 1998.

Brown is no stranger to trying out new things — she even changed her middle name to Bobby from Bonnie. That experimental spirit has extended to her hair through the years. Still, while she’s occasionally gone blonde, like at the October 2022 premiere of Enola Holmes 2, Brown has mostly stuck to her naturally brunette hair.

When Brown first burst onto the scene in 2011, starring as Eleven in the Netflix sci-fi horror hit Stranger Things, she rocked a buzzcut. Brown told the March issue of Vanity Fair that shaving her head at 11 years old was “the most important thing in my whole life because it empowered me so much.”
The star explained that her character’s identity was something she and producers struggled to figure out. “Is she going to dress as a girl? Or is she gonna dress in the shirts of her adoptive father, Hopper? Or is she gonna be what her friends are helping her to be?” she told the magazine, explaining, “At that time in my life, I didn’t know what I wanted to look like, if I preferred more feminine looks, more masculine looks, more androgynous, more grunge. So I implemented that confusion.”But would she ever repeat the shaved head look? “It was an amazing experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat,” she insisted.
