Feeling lucky?

Now that Jupiter, our high-rolling, dice-throwing planet of good luck and deep pockets, has finally gone direct in Gemini, the time is nigh to test your fortunes.

Psychic astrologer Inbaal Honigman is on deck (of cards), revealing the best dates for playing the lottery in the new year.

Read on to learn more.

What is the best day to play the lottery?

Thursday translates to “Thor’s day,” named in honor of the Norse god of thunder, a deity closely akin to Jupiter, aka Zeus, aka the god of lightning, aka the king of kings, swan seducer and father slayer.

Astrologically speaking, Jupiter is the modern ruler of Sagittarius and the ancient ruler of Pisces.

The planet is associated with luck and levity, expansion, epic journeys and enduring optimism — making it a prime time to pick and scratch.

In ancient statuary, Jupiter/Zeus is oft depicted holding an overflowing, curiously phallic cornucopia or horn of plenty. This symbol of never-ending nourishment reminds us that a scarcity mindset has no place at the table of dreams.

“Thursday is the luckiest day for purchasing a lottery ticket. Thursday carries the energy of Thor and Jupiter in its name and its vibration. It’s a great day for investing, gambling and asking for a pay rise,” explained Honigman.

She additionally counts Sunday as an auspicious day to pick your numbers.

“Sunday is also a lucky day for purchasing a lotto ticket because it is ruled by the sun. Sunday is therefore associated with luck, success, positivity and abundance,” said Honigman.

Best time of day to play the lottery

To really double down on your chances of coming out on top, Honigman suggests buying your ticket at daybreak.

“Sunrise is the luckiest time of day. It is the time of beginnings when the day starts to wake up. The sun is a lucky element in the sky and is the giver of life.”

And maybe, just maybe, the bringer of a serious financial windfall.

Unluckiest days to play the lottery

When not to roll the dice on a lotto ticket? Friday is considered the unluckiest day of the week; just ask Jesus Christ.

“While Friday is a lucky day for romance, emotions and the home (think engagements and home renovations), it’s not a good day to play the lottery. This is because Venus rules Friday, and the planet is aligned with stability and slow growth rather than unexpected riches,” explained Honigman.

Second place for bad luck? Saturday, which belongs to Saturn, our planet of karma, tough luck and the long game.

“Karma and the lottery should never be mixed, as it means you’ll win only if you deserve to win, but not if you’ve done wrong. Saturn is also a slow planet, not associated with quick gains, and is therefore wholly unsuitable for playing the lottery.”
