Longtime Seattle tech leader Kunal Chopra is heading up a new spinout from Pioneer Square Labs called Certivo, which is using artificial intelligence to rethink compliance management.
The company emerged from a partnership between Seattle-based startup studio PSL and Fortive, the Everett, Wash.-based industrial giant.
Certivo is targeting manufacturers that need to follow various compliance requirements and sustainability frameworks across their supply chain.
Its software platform aims to automate and streamline the compliance process, using AI to parse documents, organize data, and generate certificates.
“We’re achieving this through a multi-agent approach, where interconnected AI agents work together to automate, optimize, and enable smarter decision-making across the supply chain,” Chopra wrote on LinkedIn.
Certivo also monitors global regulations and provides real-time alerts, along with predictive analysis of potential regulatory changes.
The company says its product is 1/10th the cost of competitors. “While others focus primarily on tracking certificates and reporting, Certivo integrates seamlessly with ERP, PLM, and CRM systems to automate certificate collection, monitor regulatory and sustainability changes, and enhance collaboration across the supply chain,” the company said in a press release.
The software can also handle ethical sourcing, supply chain traceability, quality assurance, and sustainability frameworks.
Certivo has been collaborating with Fortive portfolio companies to help refine its product offerings.
The 7-person company raised an undisclosed amount of investment from Pioneer Square Ventures, the venture arm of PSL, along with Fortive and the AI Studio Fund, which formed earlier this year as a partnership between PSL and Mayfield.
Certivo is similar to Signify, another new Seattle startup that spun out of the AI2 Incubator and raised $2.1 million this year.
Chopra is the former CEO of Kaspien, an e-commerce platform previously known as Etaliz. His most recent gig was as CEO of Beckett Collectibles. Chopra also spent time at Microsoft, Amazon, Unikrn, and Groupon in executive roles.
Certivo CTO Ahmed Khan is the former CTO at Houston-based Poetic and was a senior software manager at Avanade and NASA.
T.A. McCann, managing director at PSL, and Jochen Feiler, president of Hengstler Dynapar, a Fortive company, are on the company’s board along with Chopra.
Other spinouts from the PSL-Fortive joint innovation studio include Genba, a voice tech company acquired by RealWear in 2022; TeamSense, which helped employers track COVID-19 symptoms at the workplace and was acquired by Fortive; and Quivr, which developed an AI-powered smart camera tool that detected proper application of sprayed disinfectant and generate deep-cleaning reports.
