Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador is speaking out about the lawsuit she is facing from her ex-boyfriend John Janssen. Beador revealed on an episode of SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live that she offered to pay Janssen the amount he wanted but he turned it down because he didn’t want to sign a mutual non-disparagement agreement. Beador consulted with her attorneys and decided that the best course of action is to have the case play out in trial, which she finds frustrating as it ties her hands in the situation.
Janssen, 61, filed a lawsuit against Beador on March 20, claiming breach of oral contract and promissory fraud for failing to repay him $75,000. In court documents, Janssen alleged that Beador asked him for the money in 2022 and he sent her $40,000 via wire transfer for a plastic surgery procedure, as well as an additional $35,000 by personal check. Beador also stated that she gave money to her ex-boyfriend throughout their relationship, with instances of him giving money and her paying for things as well, resulting in a blurred financial situation between them.
Beador confirmed her breakup with Janssen in January 2023 after more than three and a half years of dating. Janssen is now dating Alexis Bellino, who will be part of the Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 cast alongside Beador. Beador expressed being hurt by Janssen’s new relationship due to her past involvement in a lawsuit with Jim Bellino, Alexis’ ex-husband, which left her financially and emotionally devastated for years. Despite not knowing why Janssen decided to file a lawsuit at this time, Beador expressed a desire to move forward in her life.
Beador emphasized that she wants to focus on moving forward with her life and not dwell on the situation with Janssen. She expressed being in a good mental place and wanting to continue in that positive direction. In response to Beador’s comments, Janssen’s attorney previously denied claims that the $75,000 was a gift, stating that the emails and text messages between the two will show otherwise. He expressed sadness that the situation led to the necessity of filing a lawsuit due to Beador’s unwillingness to repay the alleged loans.
The case between Beador and Janssen continues to play out, with Beador stating her frustration at having to go to trial and not being able to settle the matter as she had initially offered. The financial dynamics of their relationship remain a point of contention, with both parties claiming to have given and received money throughout their time together. Beador hopes to focus on her mental well-being and moving forward in a positive direction, despite the challenges presented by the lawsuit. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will ultimately be resolved.
