Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian humanitarian aid organization, has been providing relief efforts to hard-hit areas in western North Carolina following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The organization has deployed three water filtration systems that are capable of providing clean water for up to 10,000 people daily, or 50,000 liters. These filtration systems were designed by Samaritan’s Purse’s in-house team of engineers, and are intended for use in overseas locations, however, the need for clean water in their own backyard has now arisen.

Rev. Franklin Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse, has been actively involved in the relief efforts in North Carolina. He emphasizes the importance of assisting those impacted by the hurricane in Jesus’ Name, and wants to remind each person they help that God loves and cares for them. The organization has been conducting helicopter operations to deliver emergency relief supplies to communities that were cut off from road systems during the hurricane. These supplies include food, water, infant hygiene kits, medical supplies, and other basic necessities.

One of the locations that received assistance from Samaritan’s Purse is Swannanoa, where the water pipeline network was completely destroyed during Hurricane Helene. Samaritan’s Purse has also set up a 20-bed emergency field hospital in Avery County to provide care for those hardest hit by the hurricane and to continue oxygen care for those without electricity. In addition to providing basic supplies, nearly 3,000 volunteers have joined Samaritan’s Purse in assisting over 140 North Carolina families by clearing debris, removing fallen trees, and mudding out flooded homes.

Samaritan’s Purse has not only provided aid in North Carolina but has also deployed Disaster Relief Units to communities in Georgia and Florida that have been affected by Hurricane Helene. The organization’s efforts have been crucial in reaching isolated and hard-hit areas, and providing much-needed assistance to those in need. The death toll from Hurricane Helene currently sits at 232 at the time of publishing, highlighting the severity of the devastation caused by the hurricane.

One survivor, a Georgia man, has shared his story of survival in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. He expressed how his faith in God was increased through the challenges he faced during the hurricane. Samaritan’s Purse continues to work tirelessly to provide aid and support to those affected by Hurricane Helene, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to helping those in need and bringing hope and relief in times of crisis. Through the efforts of volunteers and supporters, Samaritan’s Purse is able to make a significant impact in the lives of those impacted by natural disasters like Hurricane Helene.
