Sony’s State of Play presentation was filled with exciting game trailers, many of which were for games that had not been seen before. One of the biggest reveals was the Ghost of Tsushima sequel, Ghost of Yotei. The presentation also showcased gameplay for highly-anticipated titles like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Monster Hunter Wilds, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and the VR title Hitman: World of Assassination. Updates to current games were also announced, including new content for Astro Bot, the final DLC for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, and the second and final DLC for Alan Wake II. Additionally, a sizzle reel of games receiving upgrades from the upcoming PS5 Pro was shown, featuring titles like Dragon’s Dogma 2, The Crew Motorfest, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

New game announcements included Astro Bot receiving a free content pack, The Midnight Walk from Moon Hood Studios, the post-apocalyptic game Hell is Us, the VR shooting game Metro Awakening, and the exploration-based action adventure game ArcheAge Chronicles. The presentation also revealed Palworld, a monster-collecting adventure-and-building game, and the Lunar Remastered Collection which collects two classic JRPGs from the Lunar series. The DLC for TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, Radical Reptiles, was released the same day, and the Sonic X Shadow Generations movie content was announced for December 12. Additionally, Fantasian Neo Dimension is set to release on December 5, 2024, and Boss battle footage for Dragon Age: The Veilguard was shown, with a release date set for October 31.

A series of exciting announcements followed with the reveal of the second DLC for Alan Wake II, The Lake House, set to release in October, a VR version of Hitman titled World of Assassination coming in December, and remasters of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 arriving on December 10. The horror game Fear the Spotlight is scheduled for release on October 22, and the newly-revealed adventure game Towers of Aghasba will launch in early access in October. Players can also look forward to split-screen capabilities in Fortnite’s Lego mode and a limited edition DualSense controller adorned with Fortnite style available for preorder starting October 3. Furthermore, Dynasty Warriors Origins is set to release on January 17, 2025, and Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for February 28, 2025.

Fans of Horizon will be pleased to hear about the upcoming release of Lego Horizon Adventures and the remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn, which will be visually upgraded to match Horizon Forbidden West. Stellar Blade will feature a crossover with Nier Automata and receive additional extras like a photo-editing pack and soundtrack. Finally, the highly-anticipated Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, was revealed, featuring a lady ronin navigating feudal Japan in the year 1603. The game is expected to release sometime in 2025. With these exciting announcements, Sony’s State of Play presentation showcased a diverse range of upcoming games and updates for players to look forward to.
