Authorities encountered the suspect and his girlfriend again on Aug. 21 after a deputy spotted the stolen vehicle. The couple refused to cooperate with police during a traffic stop, leading to a tense situation where an officer shot a hole in the rear window of the car using a 40mm less lethal round. The suspect’s girlfriend began to get dressed before the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot, naked. He managed to evade deputies by jumping fences until the K-9 unit, led by K-9 Bronco, tracked him down in a backyard where he was hiding in a trash can.
