Seattle-based startup Gable, founded last year, is raising funding to support its growth. Gable has been described as a “GitHub for data,” helping developers and data analysts collaborate more effectively within a company. The software acts as a middleman between producers and consumers of data, providing real-time information on data-related changes across a business. This visibility allows end users to be proactive in addressing data quality and governance issues.

The AI boom and increased scrutiny on data used to train AI models are providing a favorable market for Gable. The company is experiencing interest driven by the broader adoption of data products and applications, with a shift towards using data for money-making, cost-saving, and regulatory compliance purposes, requiring a higher standard of quality control. The startup has paying customers and 19 employees, indicating its growth and traction in the market.

Gable’s co-founders, including CEO Chad Sanderson, CTO Adrian Kreuziger, and founding engineer Daniel Dicker, previously worked together at Convoy, a Seattle digital trucking startup. Sanderson confirmed the startup is raising investment but did not disclose specific details. The company’s mission is to streamline communication and cooperation between internal groups such as data scientists, analysts, product managers, and finance teams to ensure that end users are not negatively impacted by data-related tweaks.

Last year, Zetta Venture Partners, Crane Venture Capital, and Essence Venture Capital led Gable’s $7 million seed round, providing the initial funding for the startup. The company’s goal is to provide a level of visibility and collaboration that data professionals have never had before, empowering them to address data quality and governance issues swiftly and effectively. The funding raised will be used to drive the company’s growth, expand its customer base, and further develop its software to meet the evolving needs of the market.

Sanderson emphasized the importance of data quality and governance in a production-grade data environment, highlighting the shift from analytics and reporting towards the value-driven use of data for revenue generation, cost reduction, and regulatory compliance. Gable is positioned to capitalize on these trends, enabling companies to use data more effectively and strategically. With the ongoing growth of the data industry and the increasing reliance on data-driven decision-making, Gable’s software offers a valuable solution for businesses looking to optimize their data operations and streamline their internal processes.
