Power star Jerry Ferrara responded to Omari Hardwick’s complaints about the way his character was killed off the show. Ferrara played Joseph Proctor, a defense attorney representing drug-dealing friends Ghost and Tommy. The show, created by Courtney A. Kemp and 50 Cent, featured characters meeting grizzly ends due to underworld dealings. Hardwick publicly expressed his disapproval of his character’s conclusion, stating that the story was not consistent with what was promised to fans.

Speaking at a panel, Hardwick acknowledged fans’ frustration over his character’s fate. 50 Cent responded to these comments in a now-deleted Instagram post, calling Hardwick a “strange bird” and expressing confusion over his dissatisfaction. Ferrara, in an interview with Newsweek, admitted he was unaware of how Hardwick felt about the show’s outcome and had not discussed it with him. The secrecy surrounding character deaths on the show was emphasized, with actors only learning of their impending demise shortly before filming.

Ferrara reflected on the unpredictable nature of the show, likening it to Game of Thrones and The Sopranos, where characters’ fates were uncertain. Despite the tension of potentially being killed off at any moment, Ferrara appreciated the excitement and unpredictability the show offered. He described the process of learning about his character’s death as abrupt, with notification coming only a week or two before filming the scene. Despite this, Ferrara expressed gratitude for his time on Power, comparing it favorably to his experience on Entourage.

Ferrara acknowledged the challenge of portraying characters on a show known for its unexpected twists and deaths. He noted the parallels between Power and popular shows like Game of Thrones and The Sopranos, where beloved characters often met untimely ends. Despite the uncertainty that came with being part of a show like Power, Ferrara appreciated the opportunity and excitement it provided. As the series approached its finale, the possibility of any character meeting their demise kept the actors on edge, mirroring the tension and suspense in other acclaimed TV shows.
