A recent report suggests that this fall, new colors will be added to the existing range, signaling a significant change from the current lineup. According to a leak on Weibo, one of the existing colors will be eliminated in the upcoming series, while the remaining three will undergo modifications. This departure from the usual color lineup for the Pro series has caught many by surprise, as Apple typically maintains consistency in color options over several years or introduces a single new hero color.
The leak suggests that blue titanium and natural titanium will be discontinued in the new series, with rose being introduced as a completely new color option. Rose may be the closest shade to gold that consumers will have for now, reminiscent of previous rose gold shades offered by Apple. Additionally, a gray color similar to natural titanium, white titanium with slight tweaks, and space black as a replacement for the current black option are also expected.
In a March 29 update, a new leak hinted at another design change for the iPhone 16 Pro models, potentially affecting the appearance of the colors as well. The leak suggests that there will be a different finish for the titanium edge band, moving away from the brushed finish seen on the iPhone 15 Pro models. Instead, a glossy finish similar to the stainless steel bands on previous iPhones may be implemented, offering increased durability against scratches. However, concerns remain about potential fingerprint visibility on the new finish.
The change in finish for the titanium edge band may be controversial, as some consumers appreciate the current brushed finish for its elegant and understated appearance.
