The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has entered the knockout stage, with four teams remaining in the semifinals. The first semifinal will feature Afghanistan facing off against South Africa on June 26 at 8:30pm local time at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. The second semifinal will see England taking on India on June 27 at 10:30am local time at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana.

The weather forecast for the semifinals indicates that there may be heavy showers in Georgetown, Guyana, where the match is scheduled to take place. This could potentially result in interruptions or even a complete washout of the game. In Trinidad and Tobago, where the first semifinal will be held, there is also a chance of rain, but the forecast is less severe, especially in the evening, which may result in an uninterrupted match on Wednesday night.

Special conditions and rules have been put in place for the semifinals. In the first semifinal, an extra 60 minutes will be added to the match time on the scheduled day, with a reserve day allocated for any incomplete matches. If a tie occurs in either semifinal, a super over will be played to determine the winner. If the match is washed out and cannot be completed after the allocated extra time and reserve day, the team that finished on top of its Super Eights group will advance to the final.

India has secured a place in the semifinals by winning against teams like Ireland, Pakistan, and Australia. On the other hand, England’s journey to the semifinals included wins against Oman and the West Indies, as well as losses to Australia and South Africa. South Africa’s path to the semifinals featured victories over Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and England, among others. Afghanistan, meanwhile, achieved wins over New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Bangladesh to reach the semifinals.

In case of a washout or abandoned match, after the allocated extra time and reserve day, the team that topped its Super Eights group will progress to the final. This means that South Africa would advance from the first semifinal and India would move on from the second semifinal in the event of an abandoned match. The semifinals promise to be exciting matchups as the remaining teams battle it out for a chance to compete in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
