Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has announced that he is filing a lawsuit against the state of New York, accusing them of launching unconstitutional attacks on former President Trump and interfering with the democratic process. Bailey expressed his concerns on his podcast, “The Bailey Wire,” stating that his office will be taking necessary steps to combat what he believes are illicit prosecutions against Trump. He emphasized the importance of restoring the rule of law and fighting back against what he views as attempts by radical progressives in New York to rig the 2024 election. Bailey’s office confirmed that the lawsuit will be taken directly to the U.S. Supreme Court and will be titled “Missouri vs. New York.”

Bailey alleges that the investigations and prosecutions of former President Trump were conducted in coordination with the United States Department of Justice. He pointed out the move of Matthew Colangelo, the third-highest ranking DOJ official, to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office to help prosecute the case against Trump, as well as the collaboration between Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James in pursuing civil litigation against Trump. Bailey raised concerns about Bragg’s pledge during his election campaign to focus on investigating Trump, and accused him of bringing charges against Trump to keep him off the campaign trail, as President Biden has allegedly bragged about.

The lawsuit filed by Bailey’s office against New York will address what he sees as attempts to sabotage Missourians’ rights to a free and fair election. He believes that taking a presidential candidate off the campaign trail through prosecutions is unconstitutional and must be combated. Bailey also probed the Justice Department for documents related to any communications with prosecutors involved in the indictments of former President Trump. He expressed suspicions about the timing and motivations behind the charges brought against Trump, suggesting potential coordination between the Biden administration and prosecutors like Bragg to target Trump.

According to Bailey, the actions taken by New York against Trump are driven by a rogue prosecutor aiming to influence the 2024 election. He argues that the charges brought against Trump are weak and transparent, designed to keep him out of the campaign trail. Bailey highlighted Manhattan DA Bragg’s campaign promises to focus on investigating Trump if elected, and accused him of fulfilling those promises by bringing charges against the former president. He believes that these actions have been orchestrated to benefit President Biden and affect Trump’s ability to campaign effectively.

Bailey’s lawsuit against New York will be titled “Missouri vs. New York” and will be taken to the U.S. Supreme Court as a state versus state action. He emphasized the importance of fighting back against what he perceives as attempts to undermine the democratic process and interfere with free and fair elections. Bailey’s office alleges that the investigations and prosecutions of Trump have been coordinated between the DOJ and prosecutors, including those from New York. He believes that the charges brought against Trump are driven by political motivations and have the effect of keeping him off the campaign trail, benefiting his political opponents. Bailey’s efforts to combat what he sees as unconstitutional attacks on Trump underscore his commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
