Caitlin Clark, a rising star in the WNBA, will reportedly not be part of the Team USA roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Although the official roster has not been announced, sources have indicated that players like Brittney Griner, A’ja Wilson, and Breanna Stewart will be included. Speculation suggests that concerns about Clark’s playing time and fan reaction may have influenced the decision.
While reports have emerged about Clark’s absence from the Olympic team, the player herself has not commented on the matter. Team USA has already revealed that Cameron Brink, Rhyne Howard, Hailey Van Lith, and Cierra Burdick will compete in the women’s 3 x 3 event at the Olympics.
Clark garnered attention during her college career at the University of Iowa before being drafted by the Indiana Fever as the top pick earlier this year. She has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to live out her childhood dream of playing in the WNBA and credits her family for instilling confidence in her from a young age.
Since joining the Fever, Clark has been instrumental in securing victories for the team, with her standout performance on June 6 when she scored 30 points and made seven three-pointers in a win against the Washington Mystics. Despite her success in the WNBA, Clark has long aspired to compete in the Olympics and views representing Team USA as the pinnacle of her basketball career.
In March, Clark spoke about the honor of receiving an invite to the USA Basketball camp and the opportunity to potentially participate in the Olympic Games. She acknowledged that playing for the national team has always been a dream of hers and expressed admiration for the players who have represented the United States in the past. While Clark will not be part of the Olympic team this time around, she remains focused on continuing to improve and make a lasting impact in the sport of basketball.
