Former Donald Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis criticized the ex-president for failing to share any of the $400 million raised by his campaign since his criminal conviction in New York. Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts related to hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels to boost his chances in the 2016 election. Ellis, who served on Trump’s legal team during his 2020 presidential campaign, vented her frustration on X, saying that not a single dime had been given to his co-defendants in various election subversion cases, which included her as one of the 18 co-defendants in the Georgia case.

Ellis lamented that Trump’s co-defendants were struggling financially, with former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows reportedly spending everything he had on legal fees. She emphasized that her complaint was not about herself but about the regular people who needed help in their defense, not just the billionaire. Ellis has pleaded guilty in the Georgia case, expressing remorse for her role in attempting to overturn Trump’s loss to President Joe Biden in 2020. Some of her supporters who had donated to a legal defense fund demanded their money back after she pleaded guilty.

Ellis criticized Trump for not sharing any of the funds raised by his campaign with his co-defendants, who were facing financial difficulties due to mounting legal fees. She revealed that Meadows had exhausted his resources on legal expenses, while emphasizing that the need for support extended beyond just the billionaire. Ellis expressed regret for her involvement in the post-election challenges and stated that she would have declined to represent Trump if she had known then what she knows now. She has faced backlash from some supporters who had contributed to her legal defense fund on GiveSendGo.

Despite her criticism of Trump, Ellis was previously a supporter of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign. She mocked Trump for his performance at the Libertarian National Convention and questioned the accuracy of the attendance numbers reported for one of his rallies in New York City. Ellis’s public condemnation of Trump for not sharing fundraising proceeds with his co-defendants reflects the strains in their relationship following her guilty plea in the Georgia case. The situation highlights the financial pressures faced by individuals involved in high-profile legal battles and the expectations surrounding support from their co-defendants.
