An 81-year-old woman named Gloria in New York City was randomly assaulted by a man who punched her in the side of the head while she was walking her dog. Gloria suffered bruises to her face and neck and was hospitalized after the attack, which left her with a concussion. Despite the traumatic incident, Gloria told reporters that she feels lucky to be alive and refuses to let the assault stop her from walking her dog daily.

In surveillance video obtained by FOX 5, Gloria is seen walking her dog on a sidewalk when a man dressed in black walks past her and then turns around to approach her from behind. He then swings and lands a punch to her face, causing Gloria to hit her head on the side of a building and fall to the ground. Bystanders rushed to her assistance as the man walked away from the scene. Gloria described the incident as scary, especially since it happened right in front of her building.

Although Gloria suffered injuries as a result of the assault, she remains determined to continue walking her dog outside and refuses to hide in her apartment. She expressed gratitude that the attacker did not have a weapon like a knife and emphasized that she feels fortunate to have survived the ordeal. The NYPD is currently investigating the matter, and the attack has been added to a growing list of violent assaults occurring in New York City, including incidents where young women have reported being punched in the face or head by strangers while walking in the city.

In March, there were several reported incidents of young women being punched in the face or head by strangers in New York City, sparking concerns about safety in the city. One woman, TikTok user Olivia Brand, uploaded a video recounting how she was punched by a man on the sidewalk. Other women came forward with similar stories of being assaulted while walking in public spaces. The NYPD continues to investigate these incidents and has been working to address the growing problem of violent assaults in the city.

Despite the frightening attack she experienced, Gloria remains resolute in her determination to continue walking her dog outside on a daily basis. She emphasized that she does not want to hide in her apartment and refuses to let fear dictate her actions. The incident has raised awareness about the need for increased safety measures in New York City and has prompted a discussion about ways to address and prevent random acts of violence in public spaces. The community is rallying around Gloria and other victims of violence, working together to ensure that everyone can feel safe and secure while going about their daily routines.
