I am a long-time iPhone user, currently owning the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, with each new software release, there are always features or settings that I am not fond of. With the recent release of iOS 18, I have found some aspects that I dislike. While there are many enjoyable features in iOS 18, such as RCS support and the ability to send text messages via satellite, there are also aspects that I am not a fan of. This has prompted me to write about three features in iOS 18 that I do not like and how they can be addressed.

One of the features that I find problematic in iOS 18 is the overhaul of the Photos app. The app feels cluttered by default, with reminders of vacations and suggestions that I am not interested in. Fortunately, Apple allows for customization of the Photos app. By tapping on “Customize and Reorder” at the bottom of the app, users can hide collections they do not want to see and organize the order in which they appear. This customization allows for a cleaner and more personalized experience within the Photos app.

Another aspect of iOS 18 that I am not a fan of is the new Control Center design, which includes multiple pages of controls. I prefer a single page layout and find it cumbersome to navigate through multiple pages. Thankfully, there is a simple way to revert to the previous Control Center design with just one page. By removing extra Control Center pages, users can streamline their experience and avoid accidentally scrolling through unnecessary controls.

In iOS 18.1, Siri has received a design update with colorful edges when listening. However, the new “Type to Siri” feature can be triggered accidentally, causing inconvenience. To disable this feature without turning off Siri completely, users can navigate to Settings, go to Apple Intelligence & Siri, and toggle off Type to Siri. This allows users to avoid accidentally activating the feature while still being able to use Siri.

Overall, while there are aspects of iOS 18 that I do not like, such as the clutter in the Photos app and the multiple Control Center pages, there are ways to customize and adjust these features to better suit my preferences. Additionally, with the ability to disable certain features like Type to Siri, I can ensure a smoother and more tailored user experience on my iPhone. Despite these minor complaints, I continue to be a satisfied iPhone user and appreciate the constant improvements and updates from Apple.
